We said pop growing up, but now I say soda. It's funny how our habits change as we grow (age..lol).
My aunt was visiting from Pittsburgh years ago and she and my mom went to the local deli...my aunt asked for a 'pound of jumbo'. The clerk had no idea what she wanted. Is that balogney or what? lol
Most people at work don't know what a gumband is either. The only few who knew had ties to Pennsylvania.

My heavens, I never have been flashed, but I did unintentionally flash a few folks once. I was in the hospital some time back and decided to take a stoll to the vending area. Well, I wasn't thinking about what I was wearing and, let's just say that those hospital gowns don't leave a lot to the imagination on the backside. The nurse came up from behind me and put a blanket over my shoulders . . . I was wondering why it was a little drafty back there!

I say Coke. I live in Atlanta. No one here would know what the terms soda, pop or even soft drink mean. If you want a "soda" (God, forgive me for using that word), you would say, "I'll have a Coke." The proper response would be, "What kind of Coke would you like?" Answered by, "A Diet Coke (or Coke-Coke, Sprite, Mr. Pibb or whatever).
And tea is ALWAYS sweet.

i say 'pop', even tho it makes no sense. pop? pop is to make a short, sharp, explosive sound. soda (by defintion) is any of various forms of sodium carbonate. look it up, us people in the midwest just don't know what we're talking about...lol

Depends on where I am. Soda pop or saying the brand name is safest. So I usually say pepsi, no ice. In Lowell, Mass. they say ''tonic".
