Depends on the type of birth control, it is healthy too so long as you do it properly and stay in check with everything and your doctor.

I personally do not think it is healthy to not have periods.
SOME birth control stops your periods, but the one I know of and used for four years I would never ever recommend to anyone (depo) as there are class action lawsuits and so many negative side affects I'm appalled its still on the market.
The new pill Lybrel is also pretty new, and we do not know too much about with regards to side affects, what happens after you stop taking it, as well as long term affects.
Seasonale is a pill that has four periods a year.

Yes it does. Some women even ignore the red pills (the placebo-memory maintainers) and go for months without one.
And, yes, there are risks associated with the Pill, largely increased cancer risks, but also complacency in general and exposure to venereal diseases. (There is a recently developed variant which stops periods for 6 months).
Personally, and I speak as a male feminist, I recommend condoms, but betimes one (or, rather, two) prefer the heightened pleasure of full skin contact, and at that point I, if not involved, bow out of the debate.
