I could be wrong or maybe I'm misunderstanding your question but birth control pills don't stop you from having your period. Only way you won't get your period is if you're not pregnant. Now if you're asking how long the birth control pills will start working, it should start working pretty fast (within 24 hours, I would think).

I don't know of a birth control that will totally stop it...what kind of birth control are you taking?

it may stop the next day or a few days later.usually no more than 2-3 days.
