A newspaper editorial is an article written by a person expressing his/her opinion or views on a chosen subject. For example, one of the prime topics nowadays is global warming. Some think global warming is due to natural climatic change, others believe it is happening because of humans' burning fossil fuels and using other resources badly, still others believe it is due to a combination of the above. If you were to write an editorial about global warming, you would mention these ideas, then give your opinion, using facts or other sources to indicate how you arrived at your decision. Therefore, an editorial is different from a news article, because a news article reports only facts about events, while an editorial expresses an opinion.
