you certainly do have the right to refuse.... the biggest problem with psychiatrists is that to heal a person they should be promoting Independence in their patients, but most of then they create dependence and try to rob people of the little dependence they know..... it's a horrible cycle to get caught in... if some medication is needed they black mail you, as if you need the added pressure.... learning the way to use self help books or talking to people who over came imbalances without doctors works better... if they won't heal us the strong ones can put them out of business....

A recommendation is strong but it is not the same thing as if he said: "I'm placing you for your and the public's safety etc. they do have that right.
If the recommendation is because you were court ordered to have an assessment then the justice might rule this. Depends on the situation.

hell yeah, its your body. you can go in or not. anyways probably a way to keep the crazy people in one place, you know like jail and charge the hell out of the patients.

If it is yourself you are talking about, they will need a court order for that. If it is your mother in law, she has no choice!
