A variety of algae is their natural food, but finding a source from water that's clean and won't introduce anything harmful (parasites, fungi) to the tank can be a problem if you don't know what's in the water around where you live. I'm guessing the tadpoles are ones you've bought? In these are ones you've found, as long as there are not other animals in the container, you could collect algae from where you found the tadpoles - they would have been exposed to anything in the water already.

Iceberg lettuce has next to zero nutritionally. Romaine would be better, just as for reptiles. You can also use collard greens, kale, or other dark leafy greens except for spinach. Spinach contains oxalates, which interferes with the absorption of calcium, and they need calcium for building bone as they grow their legs. You can also give them slices of squash, peas, potato slices, Most soures recommend that the veggies should be boiled briefly to break down the cell wall to make them easier to eat, but boiling can cause some of the water-soluble vitamins (B and C) to be lost. I'd rather freeze them for just long enough that the are crispy or steam them so the vitamins aren't lost.

You can also feed them elodea (aquarium plant), alfalfa pellets (made for rabbits and other small animals), and spirulina enriched fish wafers. Sinking foods are easier for them to eat if the water is more than a few inches deep.

Bullfrog tadpoles are mainly vegetarians and will consume most soft plant matter and some animal feed. Acceptable tadpole foods include such items as boiled potatoes, meat scraps, or chicken viscera. When it becomes an adult Bullfrog it eats insects.

We've fed them dry instant oatmeal and they eat it readily and seem not to have any ill issues from it. Raised many tadpoles this way over the years.

Probably best to mix up the foods suggested thus far.

in the wild they eat algea, and nibble on other aquatic vegitation. boiled lettuce(any kind) is soft, like algea. commercial fish food works well too, i have had success with it before. look for food flakes that have protein(meat) and vegetable, as some tadpoles are carniverous.
