What do ghosts smell like? no seriously!?

people say that spirits/ghosts can emit aromas, has anyone got an idea what they are like?

It depends really what that person did in life form before.
Say for instance a man used to smoke cigars before he died, if he came back as a ghost then people would probably smell cigar smoke for instance. Or if a lady wore a type of perfume, that could linger if she visited as a ghost.

I notice there are lots of stupid answers that have been given, so what does a Ghost, or spirit smell like, they themselves don't, but what they do is give off a smell that you would be able to recognise, so for example if our father had passed over and he smoked a pipe, who may find that you can still smell this long after he has gone, he may visit at home and you suddenly find you can smell the pipe.

Ghost are a type of Spirit, if you are talking about the scent, it depents if it is a male or a female spirit.

Male spirit smells like sulphur and Female spirit smells like flowers.

Each spirit is different and so the scent will be specific to who the person was before they died i.e if they wore a certain perfume that might be what you can smell or if they used to bake a lot you may smell fresh bread or cake etc.

I will offer a serious answer to your question as my sense of humour is in the wash .

I actually believe in ghosts etc for me I have experienced a very flowery smell when I have felt someone close to me .No explanation for the smell . Just the feeling that i was not alone .

Also saw my grandad two years after he died . No smell was present though.

i´ve heard its common that one of the things that "announces" a ghostly precense is a smell of roses. I don´t know if its true or not though. Also sulfur smells are associated with demos/devils. I would imagine, however, that each ghost would have its own particular smell... i´ve even heard of a ghost whose presence was announced by a strong smell of chocolate.

I had an experience with my wife where we both suddenly smelled pot smoke, but neither of us smoke pot. We looked all around the house and even outside for the source, but it was only in a specific area of one room. It only happened once and we didn't experience any other phenomenon.

Depends on who comes from the Spirit World to visit you. If it is your Grandfather and he used to smoke a pipe you will smell that smell. If it is your Gran and she wore a favourite perfume, she would recreate that smell so you would know it was her.
