very fine sand paper works. Or walk on a city sidewalk scraping soles as you go.Also make sure you have the right socks on and that your feet don't slip inside the shoe.
Unslippify- i like the choices for this word on spell check- insipid etc.

Whoa! are none of you answerers dancers? Every dancer should no this, simply use rosin on the bottom of your shoes it's a powder that you step in and rub on the bottom of dance shoes to keep from slipping every single real dancer should use this and it's way easier than duct tape or whatever else.

When i have competitions, we have to wear pedinis for jazz and trust me, they're very slippery! My dance teacher tells us all to put pop on the bootom of the shoes because when that's wet it's, sticky. but do NOT put hairspray on your shoes, that makes them even more slippery. One last thing you can put on your shoes is razin, which is normally used for pointe shoes but works just as good for others too.
well, hope i helped!

If it is a jazz boot or jazz street shoe, walk in them! they don't really want you to but you HAVE to break them in to perform at your best! TRUST me I kno!!!
if you aren't comfortable with "breaking" the rules,
Get a slab of old wood or a carpet square and slide and jump to get used to them. It can take anywhere between 2 hours to 1 week. it just depends on how they feel on you from the start!
Happy Dancing! and Good Luck!! :]]

Black electrical tape works really well.
Just tape the soles of your shoes kinda in the middle where you would put your weight at the ball of your foot.
Good Luck!

Sew a clear elastic strap into the inside of the shoe, so that you have something to support your foot so it wont fall out.

use the slippiness to your advantage, they are made that way for a reason...
pay close attention to peoples feet when they are dancing you'll see at a dance hall the people who are wearing tennis have much less fluid movements and the people in boots tend to be smoother...
