Was told that many times and it really affected my self esteem. If you are a teenager or a young adult and someone did that to you, "You are a very intelligent person and can do anything you set your mind to doing." A friend of many years told me those words, and is still my friend.

Yep I got told that. Then I went to school and scored off the charts on the placement test. I took a look in the mirror and figured out they were lying to me again. I was my own person from first grade on. It wasn't easy being me but some how I stayed strong.

Well sweet-heart you shouldn't give it another thought, one day you'll grow up and you will do whatever you set your mind too and show the world- most of the time if people say that to you they are jealous and I bet you are beautiful, you are still in bloom so give yourself a chance. The things you can do are limitless. You'll grow up and not give a damn anyway.

my friends step-dad was a real jerk to me and my friend. But her mom broke up with him, so now we don't have to deal with it, and we knew not to take him seriously most of the time. Also a lot of teachers say that, I think they're kidding. Sometimes it really hurts though. And my dad can be a jerk sometimes, I never know when he really means it, though.

No. Sometimes people have said remarks about me, but you just have to live your life. You can't depend on other people's remarks and what they think about you.

Yeah, by my own mother...

But I'm ok now that I'm away from her and happy in my marriage.

I'm sorry that you had to deal with crap like that. No one should!
