what could be the problem, what can i do?
also, it showed me a weird screen with odd characters.
it is shutting down in the middle of me using it.

If you have an antivirus program installed run a complete scan, you may have a virus. After reboot if a virus has been found and killed.

if it will work long enough for you to run a complete scan, do it.
Some times your antivirus soft ware will catch a threat at start up, wich leads to it shutting down, to keep the nastys out of your PC
