People use stereotypes when they are unable to debate your real views and the points you make. Therefore they choose to debate their vision of your beliefs which is often way of and stereotypical. But they do know how to debate those views so they ignore what you are saying and just debate what they know
It's both intellectually dishonest and lazy.
Sometimes the stereotypes annoy me too, other times I embrace them like to an extreme as a way to ridicule them.
Maybe you should try that some time.Instead of starting an argument when you're confronted again with someone accusing you of flag burning for example, take that stereotype and run with it.Put it in your profile under hobbies.
It can be quiet funny and less stressful as trying to convince someone who doesn't want to hear you anyway that you are not anti American or communist.
Don't forget most of these people are not connected to reality.Everything left of the GOP is socialist or communist, they can no longer defend Bush,he really failed too much so now they try to label him as a liberal

Stereotyping is inevitable. But it is as much as the individual approximately approximately whether or not they pass judgement on the folks off of the stereotype or whether they get to understand the individual earlier than they pass judgement on them. I consider approximately the stereotype of folks always (that child is emo, that one is punk and so on.) however I check out to not affirm that during my head till I fairly get to no them. Other folks consider those matters, then continue to behave and pass judgement on at the stereotypes. So Stereotypes are well for determining approximately the individual's external look and the way they bring themselves, however they do not preserve the actual character, for that you simply have got to dig deeper.

AS long as you know what you believe thats all thats important. Others will always try to bring you down. Look what Martin Luther King had to put up with and many other great people whos ideas were ahead of the times. Hang in there

Well, I know I tend to generalize with some of my questions.

There's not enough time or points to ask each person an individually tailored question.

Con/Repubs tend to do "x" and lib/Dems tend to believe "x".

If the question doesn't pertain to you, ignore it, or put in your answer that you don't fit the mold. End of story.

Sounds like you need to call yourself a Republican.

The Democrat party has proven to be strongly for everything you are against.
