I have many years of experince with computers and I never heard of an "Internal Virus Database". An "External Virus Database", is when you go to any of the antivirus webpages and look up their encyclopedia of viruses.

You can use your search engine and type in, "Virus Database", your search engine will come up with many webpages of viruses listed from A-Z.

Most of the antivirus has virus database and this database should be updated online, virus database should be updated inorder to make your antivirus to fight against newly created and new versions of viruses which is not in the virus database in your PC.

You would need to indicate the antivirus product you are using but that could be an indication that it is out of date. Manually check for updates.
