Nortons is only good with slick marketing skills, to get people to purchase junk that does not work, hugh resource hog and does not know a virus when it sees one. Suggest you remove and install a free one that is light years ahead of Nortons.

Here is an excellent from antivirus program from AOL, Active Virus Shield powred by Kaspersky Lab of Russia. Rated # 1 in the world for virus detection. You will get auto updates every hour on the hour, plus an excellent background scanner that really works great. AOL, will only ask you for your email so they can send you a free key good for one year. After one year just request a new key.

Or you can run online scanner from Kaspersky Russia, rated # 1 in virus detection. Will not have any impact on Nortons. Run the complete scan may take upto two hours depending on how many running processes you have and how many programs installed. After the virus is killed, reboot your pc.

If your using windows vista, you need to get the update for norton. if not, then you may already have a virus and it is not letting you scan, or your noton is conflicting with another virus program. if you have two virus programs installed it will cause a conflict. try uninstalling one of them or both and reinstalling which ever one you like the most. I prefer avg over norton myself, iti s a better program, I had a virus on my system when I used norton. it didnt catch it.. make sure your updates are installed also, keeping them up to date will also help. good luck!

Your computer may be overheating. Do you hear the fan in the computer tower running when norton freezes? It may be time to clean some dust out of the computer tower.
