Iraq was a huge mistake and diversion of our attention IMO. We should be fighting terrorists like we are now in Somalia - using close ties with allies.

"This is a global war on terror and the U.S. remains committed to reducing terrorist capabilities when and where we find them," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said.

"We recognize the importance of working closely with allies to seek out, identify, locate, capture, and if necessary, kill terrorists and those who would provide them safe haven," Whitman said. "The very nature of some of our operations, as well as the success of those operations is often predicated on our ability to work quietly with our partners and allies."

I totally agree with this guy.

I think the new Sect of Defense, Robert Gates is bringing some common sense back to the Bush Administration. I hope the neocons don't run this guy off. He seems to be very level-headed so far.

If you really want to win the global war on terror, then solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict!
But how?????!!!! Realization that America's security interests, as the world's only superpower, are not necessarily the same as Israel's.

We have been at war with radical Islam since Iran took our embassy people hostage during the Carter administration. We chose to ignore this disease known as international terrorism for decades. We finally realized that we are at war after the attack on 9/11. The only reason it ended up in Iraq right now is Saddam overplayed his hand. He would still be in power if he had cooperated with the UN inspectors. He liked making everyone believe he had horrible weapons. After 9/11 we could not take the chance that he did and might provide the technology to terrorists. Since we were still at war with Iraq since Dessert Storm, we took the opportunity to take out his perceived threat.

The terror supporting countries in the region realize the threat to them that a Free Iraq would pose, have been supporting the insurgency with money and sophisticated weapons. The disease of fundamentalist Islam tyranny cannot abide the cure that liberty brings to the long suffering people of the Middle East.

dropping the conflict or Terrorism? i think of not. There hasn't been a efficient attack on US soil in notably much 7 years. I say that's notably damned sturdy in comparison to different international locations. And particular, we tried to make it a international concern. each and all the UN has carried out is twiddle their thumbs like they continually do.

Yes, there is terrorism in other countries like somalia. But these small countries don't pose a large threat to America. That is why we are more focused on Iraq and Iran. Iran is trying to obtain nuclear technology and that is a very large threat to America. We have to prioritize. People complain about the problem in darfour but that is very far down on the list of US priority.
