can you adjust widescreen monitors so they aren' distorted?

My pictures are distorted, wide and look funny... can you adjust in the settings?

Yes, set your screen resolution to the monitor's resident resolution. Most wide screens run at 1440 X 900. If your existing video card does not support that resolution, install the software that came with the monitor. Even after you do this, some games may still be a bit distorted.
