There's an awesome Brittish alternative band I recommend called Enter Shikari. Also checkout "You're Not Alone" by Saosin, it's currently my favorite song.
If you're looking to discover new bands, there's this great magazine called "SPIN" that you should read, also a magazine if you're seriously into rock called "Alternative Press".
Purevolume.com also is a great place to discover new alt. rock/metal bands.
