Hello Gerry:

There is no shape to the Universe as we know it.
What we do know is that we can see out into space for a distance of 40 Billion Light Years in every direction from
Earth with our present level of optical and radio telescope equipment and computer programs. The technical limitations of our equipment fail us beyond that distance and we cannot see any farther. That is not because it ends there, we just cannot "see" beyond that with our present level of technology. Some time in the future maybe a new development will come along which extends our seeing capability out to maybe 60 Billion Light years or so.

What difference would the shape have to do with it? It is vast beyond belief...

neither!the universe is said to be 'flat' and has no real definite boundaries.when i say flat,i don't mean 2d flat i mean the at a certain point in three dimensional space, there is not enough y axis as there is x and z.hence it becomes relatively flat.i could b wrong on this but i vaguely remember reading this somewhere.
since the universe is constantly expanding into 'nothingness'(Steven Hawking claims it is baseless to ask what the universe is expanding 'into')there is no real shape or boundary.

since Penrose and Hawking showed that its origin must have been a singularity, and it rapidly expands from out of a single point.
since we observe 'the edge' as being a 4 Kelvin cold highly red-shifted radiation with almost no significant dents in it...
I would conclude its ROUNDED

and i would go out so far that there is not enough matter inside to cause any other folded or modified form

Well we cannot prove it quite yet but it is rounded. It is like a balloon it will keep expanding until one day it pops. (the big crunch). But I believe that there are multiple universes and that Black holes are puncture marks that conect them. But that is just a theroy based on Einstine's theory.

it is vast in size and so u or i or any one can say its shape
it is just like u can't determine the shape of earth being on its surface u will know its shape if u see 4m the outer space
just like so u have 2 leave the space 2 know its shape which is not possible becz. it is vast

neither. concluding to the rotating galaxies and the big bang, the universe is probably a layered oval.
