You can buy a detector from any home depot or whatever to find live wires just by running it over the carpet. it's the size of a pen. Electricians use it to make sure wires are dead before working on them

If you have a general idea as to where the outlet is you can pull the carpet up to the plug & cut it out. It is easy to re-lay it, just roll it back into place n use a large putty/drywall tool to stick it back in the crack along the wall. Hope this helps.

Need to go under the house and find the outlet under the carpet and stick a long nail or something thru the carpet from underneath, cup out carpet around receptacle.

if you laid the carpet,,pull it up and redo

if you hired someone to lay the carpet ,,call them back

closest thing to right was the beeper, but depending on the one you get, it may pick up current in the line 2 feet from the box,,it is not a locating tool

They do sell voltage detectors that will light up when placed near receptacles. Unfortunately, depending on the thickness of the carpet and padding, they may not pick up the voltage. Probably cost you $20 or so.

City Hall should have the blueprints to your home and in the electrical spec's it should show you were the outlet is or you could use a metal detector to find the outlet .

Only if you have a basement or crawlspace. If you can locate it from underneath, you could stick a finishing nail up through the carpet next to the outlet box or measure from a wall.
