I went to start my truck and got the click. my battery was fine and so i bumped my truck and got it home. went out and bought a new starter and replaced it.

the only thing i ran into while replacing was they wanted me to cut my exsisting ingition wire and crimp fit it into the wire that was provided and attached. so i tried but ended up having to twist the wire toegther. I started the truck and it ran fine for a good 20min.

I shut the truck off and when to start it again just to make sure and it wouldnt start just got the click. checked my tie and connection to the starter and it all looked good so im stumped... any help please!?

Thanks

most cars built today don't have the one on the wheel well yours is probably built in to the starter ,and if that's the case,it will either be a bad connection at the starter of a loose connection from the battery to the starter, more than likely you need a new starter on it,if you can get it off,any parts store will check it for free, and tell you if that's it ,but all newer cars don't have solenoids on the fender well any more they did away with this years ago, good luck with it.,,,PS you,ll also need to repair the wire you cut with a new one,,one thing you must never do is cut a wire when installing a starter, they do unbolt.

Before attempting this- make sure the transmission is either in neutral (hand brake on) of in park.
Take a pair of pliers and touch the battery side of the solenoid to the battery's side.
If the starter turns over there problem may be the solenoid.
If there is a hot spark, and the motor does not turn over, the problem may still be the starter.
However, your problem maybe just a loose battery wire, corrosion on the terminals, a bad battery lead, or a dead battery.

You check the hot wire going to yer starter? make sure the little nut that holds it on is tight.

I'll bet your starter was fine before.
You have a bad starter solenoid on the passenger fender well.

1st mistake was cutting a wire...NEVER heard of that...check battery cables...clean them...jump it drive to advance or o'reilly for FREE check of battery and alternator...May be your alternator is bad and not charging battery or battery isnt holding charge...starter may have been OK to start..or bad solenoid.

Should be attached to 1 hot wire and located on your fender or wheel well
