I pulled it out but now it doesn't seem to be working properly.

You've very likely disconnected something somewhere between the vacuum itself and the nozzle. Check every connection carefully and I'll bet you'll find where the suction stream is disconnected. The belt that drives your rollers probably slipped off, or is broken. Easy fix.

Lets hope you are mechanically inclined. Turn the sweeper over look in between the slots to see if the belt is broken. If so, it is easy to fix.
I learned the hard way. Thought mine was burned up sat on the carport for a year. Then one day decided to check the belt. It was the belt and I had been using the new one for that past year and didn't need to buy one. Now I have 2.

Probably knocked your belt off or part of it is still left inside. Take off the bottom and make sure the belt is on, and stick something like a wire clothes hanger gently into the vacuum hole.
