You will not be hurt by lightning striking the house by being on a cordless phone. Of course, it is incredibly unlikely that lightning would strike your house anyway - but if you are worried about the possibility, you will be fine, as lightning will not travel from the wall unit to the reciever.
The one risk you do run is that if the power goes out, the phone will stop working. Phones with cords do not need electricity to work, but cordless ones do, so if you lose power you will be without a phone (unless you have one with a cord as a backup).

Lightning striking a wire will destroy almost, if not all, electrical equipment connected to that wire.
So one lightning strike in a phone line could knock out a dozen phones in a neighbourhood.
Or one striking in a powerline can destroy TVs, computers and other equipment connected to that powerline.
But when lightning is concerned, your cordless phone is not much different from a battery operated radio.
It is not connected to anything. It may transmit some radio signals somewhere, but if the radio station is struck, nothing will happen to your phone (one exception: in Holywood movies, it will).
The lightning strike has only one thing on its mind: Get into the ground. It does not concern itself with broadcasting radiosignals. And in any case: radio signals may be distorted, yes. But no radio signal carries enough power to actually harm your radio or you cordless phone.
It's simply a matter of power overload. The power is going into the ground. Whatever is in the way that can't handle the power is destroyed.
Your phone is not in the way. The power does not travel to it or through it.

Cordless phone can still be dangerous because the energy from lightning can travel through the air as electromagnetic radiation, which still can reach the phone. But in most cases it's likely a 50% chance that will happen.

Corldess phone, indoors yes, outdoor's no.
A cell phone indoors is also good in a thunderstorm. You should also get of the computer during a storm, and it would be best if you could disconnect the connections from the computer (telephone line, cable hookup, even the electrical cord) You could lose your computer if your house gets a jolt, and it doen't have to be a big one to zap your computer (or the tv/cable box/tivo)
