Are you talking about only in UEFA champions league play or around the world. Ronaldhino has become just a name, in my opinion, put him in the english prem and he won't track back, tackle, nothing to call him a real middy. Gerrard is that package and showed that in the england game, best player on the pitch by far, especially in a holding midfield role he isn't used to. Seedorf is extremely old now, past his prime, Gattuso is all talk, what did he really do in the final, had 2 or 3
tackles..
Silva.. Rising star, but I wouldn't call him best in the world at the moment.
Players like cesc fabregas, Carrick, C. Ronaldo ( Potentially the best player in the world now, great scorer in prem, and also defends etc.) Kaka..
Then you have players who are nearly at this level, although fabregas, Carrick etc. aren't they're more in this category, guys like Messi, Quaresma, Simao, Malouda, Silva etc..
It's hard to them all, but C.Ronaldo is the best in the world at the moment, even though he is a cheat, and dives and so on and so forth.

4. Pavel Nedved
5. Clarence Seedorf

I like pacey & skillful midfielders, or brave midfielders. Versatile midfielders, i.e. those who can play in several positions are also preferred, e.g. can play at the left or right flank, or can defend and attack.
