I just got my reed diffuser set up. If you dunno what it is, its a kinda like essence burner thing except you dun need to burn anything, just put the reeds in the bottle of essence and the fragrance will come out. I'm not sure if this will harm my goldies. My room is always stinky, I kinda want to put this thing here. Do any of you ever have some sort of air freshener in the same room as your tank? Will this harm them? (the tank is 10 gallon)

It shouldn't pose a problem, but of course without knowing the chemicals in the fragrance it's impossible to say for sure. Allergy reactions have been observed in some fish species but I am not aware of having seen any concerning goldfish or room fragrances before.

It would be a good idea of course to place the reed diffuser away from the tank and personally I would consider both turning off any air pump in the tank if possible and also keeping carbon in the filter. Between those precautions you should be safe.

I have one of those reed diffusers I bought it from Party Lite. There is actually essential oils in it. I am sure that if you get it on the bird it can be harmful but as for the smell... I think if you keep it not too close to the cage it should be OK. I have mine in the bathroom and the bird is out in the living room.
