When I have been broken hearted, I've just wanted a friend to let me cry, vent, help me laugh, be my shoulder to lean on. Time is the only thing that truly heals a broken heart.

I say if it is a total shattered into a million pieces heart situation, you should definitely try to comfort them by just not talking about it.Maybe you could even go to their favorite place (within location) and just have fun! But you should NOT try to hook them up with someone else! That will make them look back on the break up. And if your friend just wants to stay at home and not hang out, that is totally fine. You can just call them or chat on AIM. You could also send them a funny e-mail or get them a funny gift that will make them happy!
I hope these tips will work for you!

If you want to comfort them, first you have to let them know that they will be okay. Help them to forget about what happened, by taking them out somewhere. I don't mean to spend all your money, or to go to a place where they used to go before their heart was broken, because that could bring back their memories and cause them to be more sad.
I hope this heps your friend!!!!

You have to pick the right time and the right words. A broken heart is something that you just don't get over.It takes time, and we all heal differently. And you do have to grieve the broken relationship. After all it was once alive and very real. You are a good friend....I wish everyone had you as their friend. You get a star for wanting to help your friend.

Be there to listen forever if necessary. Don't put your two
cents in or make any judgements...the person feels bad
enough already. It's helplful if you can take them out of the
area for a couple of days, away from anything that reminds
them of their heartbreak and never never let them know if
you're getting tired of hearing it all. The next time you may
need a good friend like this.

Just be there for them............Don't be thier personal catter because then they will become co-dependent and sulk in the past but if they need a shoulder let em' have urs if they need a hug give them one and help them get over it tell them funny things tell them some of your heart breaks and tell them even though they probably can't see it it was ultimitly for the best maybe they are going to meet a better person or maybe that personal wasn't the best in the world let them scope it out themselves
But remember if they arent' willing to get over it them selves you can't make them
U can only bring the horse to the water...u can't make them drink it!
") Good Luck

If the injury is fresh, you can't comfort. Give it some time. After a while, they become numb to the pain and are able to go on.

interior the previous, have had to handle friends as quickly as that they had lost a number of their kin (extremely puzzling circumstances). yet, as proper therapy taking buddy to web content of interest (removed from "the reminding atmosphere"), proper volume of sturdy foodstuff, quite tight time table to bypass to from website to website, and then after busy application crammed day sitting quiet night (after dinner drinks) and conversing approximately each subject remember buddy needs to chat approximately (many times "remebering the previous stuff"). that style of "on an known basis application" for few days many times facilitates plenty... and that i'm not purely conversing approximately broken hearted, i'm conversing approximately plenty extra severe situations of people who've lost their girlfriends, wifes, kin... as quickly as even an previous colleague (already that factor a widow) have been given comparable "therapy" after he had unexpectedly lost his son (the previous information is: the biggest loss guy can ever go through, is the lack of ability of his very own son)... yet preparations what the corporate offered lifted his motivation to paintings until retirement days arrived...

If it's a guy, buy him a "stripper". If it's a girl, you've got a long road ahead of you so you better get the tylenol ready for your coming headache.

The main thing we all need when upset is the right words and they are often the most difficult to find in times of need. A caring touch can sometimes be the best thing to do when words fail.
