A relative traveled to an undeveloped country in SE Asia. He got his vaccinations, but we are concerned that he should wait a week before seeing us as to not pass anything virulent along.

I would wait. I worked for 5 years in a plant where the majority of the workers were originally from Vietnam or Cambodia and they would often go back to visit. You wouldn't believe the sicknesses that would go around at work. I think you are better safe than sorry especially with a baby. Everyday germs however are actually a good thing according to our pediatrician. Regular exposure helps build immunity and prevent allergies.

Definitely you should wait. Just because your relative was vaccinated, doesn't mean he is not a host to germs. Vaccination only protects him. He can still carry germs and not be affected by them.

You're the parent. You can ask them not to come over or have contact with the baby. I realize it's family, but this is your child.

you should put your family in a huge bubble and never come out, then maybe you will stop worrying about everything.
