Lately, my battery indicator LED light (I think that’s what it is called…) on my Dell XPS M140 laptop has been flashing amber repeatedly about twice a week. I leave the laptop plugged in most of the time and sometimes it will just start flashing amber. If I unplug it and plug it in again, it stops. I even took the battery out once to make sure the number wasn’t on a recall list. When I put it back in, the flashing stopped only to act up again a week or so later.Oh, and the laptop is only a year old (of course the warranty is up...). ;)

I have no experience in anything like this, so please leave some advice in as limited of technical terms as possible. :) Thanks in advance!

I think Dell like HP has a battery conditioner if they do and you stay plugged in most of the time, be sure to use that program once a quarter or your battery will self deflate! Meaning it will go bad. Usually when the amber charge light blinks its because the charge circuit is seeing an issue and can not add what it thinks should be added to the battery.

If nothing else, run you laptop on the battery until you have discharged it enough to turn off your machine. Then reconnect and charge it.. You may have to repeat this it may recover any usable life in your battery. Worst case, buy a new battery if you need to use one
