Alright.. I'm not sure about it.. there are no other Betta's in the tank.. just 3 in there all together.. my boyfriend caught a little baby bass and I put him in there and he chased my Danio to no end so he had to go.. but I've heard it's okay for betta's in a community tank but I don't really know about it..

I have seperate tanks.. I'd just like to put him in there because he'd set it off a little more.. and his little tank the water evaporates so fast.. I guess I can try him though.. I'm not sure if the Gourami is a male or female.. it acts very friendly with the Danio and the rest, never tries to attack anything except my air bubble hose.. it flares it's fins on top up and attacks it.. so I'm not sure.. I guess I will try it though if they try to fight he'll have to go back to his own tank... how long should it take for me to tell if they're going to fight or not??

Once again the tons of bad info on bettas pops out. Bettas are of course quite peaceful and good community fish. That should be fine. The only possible problem would be the kissing gourami if it's a male that is territorial. Add the betta and watch them closely for a little while and if the gourami is giving too much problem you will have to remove the betta. Different male bettas could give different results as well so if the first doesn't work out another may.

I have a several male bettas (at different times) in my 29 gallon tank with community fish and they LOVE it!! I have had no problem with them being aggressive toward the other fish. When I first put my betta in the tank, I was a little worried. I just watched him for 15 or so minutes and then checked on him frequently. Since your tank is only 10 gallons, I don't think it would take long before he met all of your fish. You could then tell if there is a problem or not. Just be sure to check on them all frequently. Good luck!

Bettas are NOT evil fish and contrary to popular belief, they will not slaughter every fish they see. They can live happily with other fish in a community provided they do not feel threatened. For this reason, any fish that is not brightly coloured, is not larger than your betta and does not have long flowing fins will be able to live happily with your betta in a tank of that size.

In your case, I think all the fish should be fine, except for the gourami. His size and aggressive tendencies might pose a problem. Either one or the other might get hurt; in any case I'm fairly sure the betta will be pretty stressed. Try putting the betta in, and observe closely. If either the betta or gourami appear unhappy, make sure you have an available tank to put one or the other in.

my male betta lived peacefully in a community tank for 5 years after being kept in a 1.5 gallon alone. sure, you can try but guppies might bother him because theyre so colorful, so youd have to watch them for a while and check on tehm all the time for a couple days. if the betta attacks the guppies, take him out and put him in his own tank. just make sure theres a lot of hiding places for the betta and guppys. then the betta can just claim a small area or cave hiding hole thing as his. -some bettas are just mean thow and dont like any other fish. theyre all different with their own personalitys, so its worth a try. have a net ready and watch them for maybe 20 minutes when you first put him in. then make sure you keep checking like every 5 minutes for a while.

I ahve a community tank with a kissing fish, corydora's, along with 2 female Betta's and 1 male Betta along with other tropical fish. My fish get along fine. My male doesn't kill every fish that gets put in the tank. My Betta is very peaceful. The only problem you might have is the kissing fish being the size it is and also if it is male. I would try it and just keep a close eye on the tank for a while. Good Luck!

Everyone preaches that Bettas will kill other fish if kept together, and they will if they are in too small of a tank. However, I have mine in a ten gallon tank with a small goldfish and 2 sunburst platy's and they all seem content, he hasn't ever gotten agressive with them. However, my other fish never really tried to get friendly and in his space either. Just make sure you have plenty of plants/decor. He won't play as nice with his new friends if he's in open water. I'd say give it a try, watch him for a while, and check on the tank often at first. Just keep his other tank set up in case it doesn't work out.

Hi, I have been an aquarist for almost 20 years now and I have always had one male betta in my community tank and have never had a problem with the other fish bothering him. You can put him in there and just watch him and make sure his fins/tail isn't getting nipped. I wouldn't worry about the cory or danio they won't bother him. The gourami shouldn't bother him, but considering his size he may.

I would have to say that it would probably be okay. Gourami's are kinda agressive sometimes so I'd keep an eye out. I have seen betta's in community tanks before and they seemed to be thriving. I guess a nice tank beats a crusty bowl anyday.

No, the male betta will fight with everything. Female bettas are more peaceful and can go in a community tank.
