i`d say Russia seeing as only a 5th of the German army were even in Europe
as far as lend lease is concerned the USA hardly did it out of the goodness of their heart seeing as its only this year the UK paid back the final instalment
but its all old history and according to Germany they were defeated by Russia and who would be better to judge than them .

In the European theater of the war, all of the allies paid a heavy price to defeat Hitler. The two fronts Germany was facing with a steady march toward Berlin was really the death knell for the Nazis. However, I believe Russia sacrificed the most. They lost more men in one battle than we did in the entire war.
In the Pacific, the USA clearly contributed the most.

The British followed closely by the Americans. You must not forget that the Brits were fighting the war for TWO years before the USA committed to the battle.
Victory in the battle of Britain was based upon a combination of British resiliance and the RAF's persistance in the air war. If we did not command the skies over the British Isles how would American personell arrive in one piece?

Each Country contributed as much as it could the war could not have been won if UK had fallen in 1940 the war would not have been won without the production of USA It would not have been won without the 20 million sacrifice of Soviet Russia. ( I do doubt the 20 million figure and wonder how many of his own people Stalin killed)
it would not have been won without China, need I go on

the USA gave the final contribution that made victory possible, but we missed act one. Th old British empire and the Russsians both committed their everything to it...The Russians especially because they burned everything, women fought and they lost the most people. The Russians would not have beat the Nazis without aide, but they would would have fought from Chamchatka for years. The fight was not on the USA's soil.
Good answer to Arbg555 above..I wasn't thinking about Japan...including the Pacific, you have to give it to the USA

Probably the so-called good ol USA and didn't they make a lot of money from it!
Nothing they provided was for free and the simple fact is that but for the people and the soldiers sailors and airmen of Britain, Europe would have succumbed to the Nazi's.

Are you referring to lives lost or material support?
The USA provided more material support for the war effort, both in the Pacific and European Theaters. The Russians had more men killed in the war than any other nation.

Do you mean in monetary terms? Lives lost? Battles fought? Are you talking about all theatres? Clarify & focus the question & you may get a sensible reply.

Once it entered, the US helped the most in defending Britain and reclaiming most of Europe. However, I would say that Germany's choices were the most instrumental in losing WWII. If they had kept their truce with Russia and not attacked Britain, trying to make peace there instead, I believe they could have consolidated their gains in Europe.

Russia , Britain but pivotal to ur success in the end was help from our cowardly inward insecure nighbour who turned a blind eye to come in at the last minute when they had been prompted to come in by the Japs ......
When their securty was threatened our dear freind helped us ...The Americans might have gladly lived with a Nazi Europe ....
