Why does everyone picks on my grammar? Usually, I never check my grammar while typing online, most people never check their grammar when they are online unless they are writing their english essays or for academics. Picking on people's grammar is just a low blow. It just shows that they don't care and wants to find anything just to pick on them. If they say anything about the grammar, then name the grammar mistake. for example, "I are live in United States.", The yahoo answerers if they want to say something about grammar, They should say "It is suppose to be 'I live in the United States.'" I like swear, just knowing what they are talking about is fair enough.

Another suggestion, "It just hurts the ears sometimes.", why not say "It hurts the ears sometimes."

Dogsafire, "If you then use improper grammar, your communication becomes more difficult to understand.", why not just use "If you use improper grammar, your communication becomes more difficult to understand."

There are several errors within your own post. Please remove the stick from your hiney and get a life.

I'm paid to write and edit and I'm nowhere near this tough or ridiculous. You, sir, are an uptight moron pretending to be a grammatical know-it-all. Hate to burst your bubble, you're not.

If I go into a question where improper grammar is being used and words are not spelled correctly, I click out of it because it makes no sense to me. I believe that'a why a lot of people don't get any answers to the question that they post.

Because when you are communicating in text (without the visual and audible cues present in face-to-face communication or the voice inflections present in audio communication) it is much more difficult to understand the author's intent, even when you use perfect grammar.

If you then use improper grammar, your communication becomes more difficult to understand. Add to that the fact that many people who read your message may not have English as their first language. Can you imagine how much difficulty you cause for them trying to translate your broken grammar?

I had a neighbor who couldn't speak grammatically correctly if her life depended on it.

It just hurts the ears sometimes. Or let's face it, all the time. I never let on, she had absolutely no idea how I was so bothered by her poor grammar. I just listened and responded to her ideas, as you say you would like others to do.

But it is jarring, gotta tell ya.

I'm sorry you have so much trouble with grammar. I almost wonder if my neighbor had dyslexia, she had so much trouble finding the correct word as well.

Still, she was a great person and I valued her for her good qualities. Speaking grammatically correctly just wasn't one of them.

Poor grammar makes you look like you are not very smart. Personally I take pride in being able to use proper grammar and spelling. I also prefer to have a conversation that I can comprehend. I don't want to have to try to figure out what the heck you are trying to say to me.

You said "It just shows that they...wants to find anything to pick on them"

One grammar mistake there was to conjugate the verb "to want". When the subject is "they" we do not put an "s" on the verb.

Using poor grammar and spelling indicates disrespect for people that you are addressing because it makes your message unnecessarily harder to read.

Would you go out on a date or to work while wearing a dirty shirt? Your language is behavior. Put your best foot forward, please.

You get picked on because it is hard and annoying to read. Plus it makes you sound like a doofus.

So quit it and take the time to do it right.
