No - - - nothing that Charles did was so awful that it called for the axe. When one studies the times it is hard to find any clear cut heroes or villains. In truth many of the Parliamentarians were 'pricks,' a contentious lot, greedy bigoted mean-spirited nasty arrogant men.

That said, Oliver Cromwell was a great man who later faced the same obstacles with Parliament as Charles I, only Oliver had the mettle to deal with them. One of Englands greatest losses was Cromwell's early death.
