Saw this one when I was little and covered this teen girl that wasn't so popular and falls asleep on a trip (i think) and dreams this dream of being a pirate and hooks up with the most popular guy. When she wakes up she realises it was a dream, but still hooks up with the bloke.
I THINK there was some singing in it..

in 1982, there were two, count 'em, two theatrical versions of the Rogers & Hammerstein play, "The Pirates of Penzance"; the first one was the worst, and starred Linda Ronstadt and Kevin Kline....
However, the film which you're talking about, a whimsical, bubble-gum pop, musical/comedy/adventure/fantasy version was released soon after, starred Kristy MacNicol and Christopher Atkins, and was entitled "The Pirate Movie"; the film was soooo sickly sweet and cuddly, most hapless viewers got a cavity or two, just watching it!!!
...gotta candidly admit, I was one of those cavity-ridden viewers, as this film IS a guilty pleasure of mine!!!
...out of print for years on Fox Video VHS tape, a couple of years ago, Anchor Bay Entertainment finally released the film on DVD....to the absolute glee of us tooth-decayed "Pirate Movie" fans!!!

Mine would be... Taller than me, not by too much tho. Short. Dark hair.. Good sense of humour, loves animals (as i have loads and aiming to be a vet). Loves kids but wants to wait a while 4 them like me.Some same interests but not all, otherwise it wud get boring. Has a job, and hates it when he is unemployed. Proposes on his knee, in a really romantic way, Alwys has time for me. Would never cheat. Is not super religious. SOmeone that i could talk to..( Really talk to) I guess that this is definately a dream guy, never seen a guy like this b4...

hmmm........ not sure about this one but a similar movie is one called Teen Witch- about a teenager that is picked on until she realizes she has magical powers and gets the guy, yada yada.
Im stumped on that one, Ill be watching for the answer.....
