If you put holes in the soil by the plant for water and oxygen then the plant will probably die because it feeds from the root and the foilage and if air gets to the root it dies.
Use a soil tester any garden center or nursery has them.

Let me get this straight. you want to grow a weed?
Dig around the base of the plant about 5 inches out from the root all the way around down about the depth of a spade. Crank it up out of the ground. Find a container or pot for it that is larger than the root system. put some sand in the bottom make sure the pot has a small hole in the bottom.. Place weed in the pot . go over to the hole you made and mix some sand in with that soil and fill around the weed in the pot with that mixture. If it was thriving in that spot make sure it has the same exposure.
Does the plant have three pointy leaves? You will have a nice itchy rash after all of this.

first, if you are growing any plants in your home, you need to buy bagged soil; it is sterilized...soil obtained from outdoors has too much stuff in it (bacteria, fungi, etc.) and the home environment is not a balanced ecosystem to keep some of those things from getting out of control... (growing in mud is a bad idea, very little oxygen for the root system in mud) so, if you are growing indoors, you need sterilized soil... a good brand to get: Hyponex potting soil or Miracle Gro potting soil.(make sure you buy the stuff with the little white pieces in the soil mix- called perilite also vemiculite added is excellent)... as for raising the pH.. add sheep manure.. about 1/3 sheep manure to 2/3 potting soil... another tip for you... grow in clear plastic containers (ice cream buckets, 2 liter bottles).. also, yes, you do need to add drainage holes... and you want the soil to dry out before watering again... the roots need oxygen... also, be sure to have plenty of light... a south facing window, or florescent lighting (shop lights work great), do not try to use incandescent lighting (regular light bulbs).. and don't waste your money on the grow lights.... happy growing to you :)

Weeds are ideally suited to grow where they are - in the native soil, just as it is. If you dig one up, use the surrounding soil in the pot. Fertilizer is usually not really necessary. Most weeds like poor soil. To know the pH, get a soil test kit. Drainage should match the original site. Keep the sun exposure the same as well.

Buy a ph meter. There only about 12 bucks. Too much will make your soil to alkaline so dont just through it in.
