Area Info on: Brentwood, LA, CA Anyone?

Hi,
Do anyone know about Brentwood in LA, California? Can anyone tell me about that area...? Like whether it's a corupted area or not since it's located in LA..? Are the houses in that area expensive?(Hopefully with examples and price range provided) Is it a good area to bring up a family?
