Oh wow you opened a box of worms here!! :P
I hate dress codes (uniforms) because I like for my children to be able to be themselves. My daughter dresses like Punky Brewster. My husband is military and we moved from a place with no dress code to where there was one and I had to go buy uniforms for my children.... It really sucked for us because it was only a couple months before school was out and we won't be here next year!!! I understand because where we are currently at is a training station and there are children with dads of all ranks so they do it to keep the children out of the "my dad is higher rank with more money" mode. I haven't seen a difference in my children's grades...he was straight A's before and is straight A's here. Now I do know my children hate it and can't wait to be back where there are no dress codes!

I used to be at a school with a uniform. It helped so much because I didn't have to give any thought to clothing. If there isn't a uniform, however, I don't think a dress code makes any difference. You still have to worry about what you wear.

Yes, very much so.
There is no competing in who has better clothes, shoes, etc.
Some families just cannot afford the "expensive" clothes.
There would NOT be a distraction especially with girls wearing short short skirts, belly showing, and so on.
I think all schools should have a dress code.
Not that everyone looks like a clone, but maybe different colors but same style.

I think that dress codes, as in no tank tops, no tube tops, no stomachs showing, ect are appropriate. Uniforms however, destroy uniqueness among the students.

dress codes are really useful in students learning because they dont have to worry about what theyre wearing or what anyone else is wearing. they can just worry about their education.

yup!!!!!!!! very much so... discipline reasons... if its a co-ed school its even more important.... does not allow students to get distracted... the children of today are not all that innocent anymore..... they tend to copy the movies and television so its better to avoid hasles right from the beginning.... but this should never be forced on them... it should be very clearly explained so that they dont revolt..... well thats what concerned parents opt for atleast...

i think so.
i come from a poor family and if i had to go in everyday cloths unfortanatly i would of been bullied. I would also find it stressfull about making sure i have diffrent cloths everyday.
Alot of students dont like them but i do.. they also support antidiscrimanatory practice as you cant bully people for whereing such a thing.
PLEASE NOT: im no longer poor. Please dont offer me cloths lol :-)
