I am in the N.Utah area. What time of day/night should your lawn be watered? And for what time period?

the ideal time to water is early in the morning when the grass is still wet from the dew. it helps the ground absorb the water and you lose less to evaporation. ideally you should water at 4 or 5 in the morning for about a half an hour. the time really depends on what kind of soil you have. don't over water because you can drown your grass. if you start to see yellowing patches or the ground stays soggy, you are watering too much and need to cut back. good luck.

You want to water the coolest part of the day to reduce the amount of evaporation that will occur due to the heat.
We have a nice green lush lawn (Ohio) and we water every third day our entire lawn during our dry periods. I prefer to do it in the early morning while the soil/grass may still be moist from the dew as oposed to early evening when the soil is at it's hottest and dryest, which causes alot of evaporation and takes more time for the water to penetrate.
We have four of those long (about a foot or so) sprinklers that cover a really wide area and we have one on each of the four sides of our property. We have a pretty small property so I only have to go move the sprinklers once on two sides of the house to cover everything. (I have lots of flowers too) I water each area for about an hour or less.

I water mine (NE Arkansas) early in the morning. Usually every 5 days depending on the temps. I set out a container and use 1" of water per watering.

The best time is at sunset or a little after for about 30 min. This way it doesn't evaporate and it has time to soak in.

Happy watering!

you want to do it in the morning, doing it at night can cause fungus. as for the amount of time to water it all depends on what kind of grass you have, soil, sun and shade, and any slopes. just play around with it some and you will figure it out.
