Chances are, no. In New York I know it's not;; but if you are going to keep it, give it a LOT of space to run around and burrow. Chipmunks need a lot of exercize.

yes. It is a wild animal. State law may vary but owning it is very probably illegal. Feeding it providing shelter etc. probably not. But keeping it captive I am sure is illegal

In some places yeah, (Animal Rights Laws) maybe its ok in Canada. If you live in the country you can also keep one aslong as its raised from a baby, and kept secret. Take good care of it though!.

Chimpmunks are considered wild animals because they have not been bred to be domesticated, so yes, they are illegal. Besides, chimpmunks would be so hard to take care of! You wouldn't know what you were getting yourself in to.
