Elton John in a fight, now I'm picturing Elton in a bright orange and pink jump suit with sequins and some feathers around his sleeves...*shudder*

The name of the song is actually "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" - the word "is" is NOT in there!
As others have already pointed out, most of Elton's best songs were written by lyricist Bernie Taupin. Elton put these lyrics to music, that's how they collaborated.
I should think Elton John would be above any kind of violent altercation. He is, however, quite capable of biting sarcasm! I absolutely ADORE Elton....and I've seen him many many times before. He's one-of-a-kind!!!!

Elton only wrote the music. Bernie Taupin wrote the words to this. Could I imagine Bernie Taupin in a fight? I don't know what he looks like but I should think Elton has quite a temper and he's fat too. He could do someone damage I think if he was mad enough. If he just fell on them it would probably kill them!!!

Well, he does have a reputation for being somewhat fiery at times, although if he were ever to fight somebody he'd probably hit them with his handbag!
Incidentally, the lyrics to this song were written by the great Bernie Taupin. Mr Taupin wrote the lyrics to most of Elton's best songs.

I remember when it was released and yes I am that old. It holds a good memory for me as when at school I fancied the English teacher like mad. Went to end of year disco and friends told him I liked him and he asked me to dane. That song come on not so good to dance to and goes on for bloody ever lol.
He would stand his ground in a fight and my disabled daughter adores him he is all over her bedroom wall lol So I have no choice but to like him and defend him
