He is about 1 year old now.

I'm not sure whether he has a cold or not. I've taken him to the vet but she wasn't very good, the first time she gave Wilber an antibiotic which was like a paste and that didn't work, then she gave him another antibiotic which was a clear gooey liquid, that didn't work either, he still sneezes and snots everywhere.

My poor babies appetite is better but that's about the only improvment.

I'm keeping him warm by leaving a blanket over his cage and leaving a heater in his room turned on for a few hours a day, i'm also trying to keep the cage dry by cleaning it out about once a week. Are there any other suggestions?

Also is it ok to use a disinfectant on Wilber's cage whe I clean it? Could it potentially make his sicker?

Please help me out, I am very worried about him.
Thanks in advance.

I'd also like to ask what are some good foods i can give him, i already give him apples and carrots but I am afraid to give him anything else because it could make him sick, I know I should not feed him lettuce because that can give him the runs, also please add in what I should not give him, so I know.

It is OK to disinfect the cage. Water with bleach, 1/4 cup bleach per gal.
Is the nose "snotty" or just wet? The nostrils can be wet witout anything wrong. Thick snot on the other hand is not good. Rabbits are actually pretty tough.
Also the heater may be too much. If it is too warm the rabbit is trying to cool off by evaporating moistur- through the nose!
Bunnies actually like it cooler than people do.

Wilber need to be on a diet of good hay and a well balanced pellet. Plus all the fresh water he wants. Treats like fresh fruit and vege's should be limited, especially while he's not well.
You need to get another opinion about your bunny's health. A rabbit that blows white or yellowish snot from his nose is very sick. It is called Snuffles in rabbits and can be fatal. Keeping his cage clean will help, but not eliminate the disease. He may need to be on Baytril or Pen-G... rabbit safe antibiotics that he will need to take for 10-30 days. It takes a long time to eliminate this type of infection.
Stay away from other rabbits, you can carry the infection and spread to other bunnies.
Clean his cage with a bleach solution and let it dry in the sun before you put Wilber back. Keep his front legs clean with a cloth and a 50% water/50% Listerine (Yes, Listerine yellow mouthwash!). Rabbits tend to wipe their faces with their front paws and the fur gets matted and caked (leaving them open to skin infections.)
Find another vet with more rabbit experience. Wilber deserves better care than what the other vet offered. And best wishes for a complete recovery.

oh the poor bunny! looks like u have a TERRIBLE vet!!!! I'd change 2 another vet. Then have Wilber checked up again at the new vet. If that cure doesn't work, I wouldn't use something like clorox, but go to yur pet store and ask them where the disenfectant is that is ok to use on animals. I've read about special disenfectant fr guinea pigs, so just buy guinea pig disenfectant, it should be the same outcome (they can be similar in size)

Get a new vet. It is not fair to comprimise on Wiber's health.
And also as he is young, he should be enjoying good health.
Using a disinfectant is fine, it will kill germs and keep his home cleanly. It wouldn't make him sick.
But you can get special disinfectant sprays for animals, which kills germs and naturally deodourises.
Its a good thing to use if you don't want to use a load of chemicals in his cage.
Good luck on Wilbers good health returning!

I would first try to take him to another vet. Second is thier anything that you are feedin him like fruit or veggies(he could be allergic or it could be poisunous) check websites and do reserach. make sure he has water at all times and if this doesnt help try a pet store ask them and try to find something that you can out in his food/water.

now the disenfectient might be a little harmful!! only pet product cleaner, i take the bottom part outside and rinse it down with soap and water. the top part i leave since that is wire/metal stuff. unless you wash the stuff off then its fine. but he could be eating/biting/ licking the metal which could be causing that??

hope this helped, and he will be fine!! hopefully your rabbit feels better.

Take him to a different vet as soon as possible. The vet the you took him to may not be treating his illness correctly. I've had a lot of experience with incompetent vets. I went to one some years ago who misdiagnosed my cat's diabetes. I had to take him to the 24 hour emergency vet when he almost died from the suggested treatment. After that I changed to a wonderful vet who I've been going to ever since.
