I asked this because I'm watching the movie The Departed and Leonardo DeCaprio was in a sex scene and it made me wonder. Plus he probably had a girlfriend during the shooting of this movie so I mean do you think he felt almost like he was cheating on her if he got aroused?

of course, i'm sure it happens every single time. it's expected...men get aroused for just about anything, you know. and i think maybe sometimes it could be awkward, if the actor and actress don't like each other, but the rest of the time i'm sure it's just hawttt...

When you consider the amount of people with technical equipment, lighting and sound settings, at least two or more cameras that are just so close to capture the intimacy of the scene and a director is who looking for just the "right" angle, not to mention all the re-takes, its a wonder any intimate scene is filmed at all. Then again, who says they dont get aroused? Not all do, of course, but anybody want to take bets that it doesnt happen? Like everything else in life, what happens between two, or more, people is dependent upon their relationship to each other. Obviously, the closer the principals are, the hotter the scene.

They do. My friend was working on a film, and during the sex scene, they cleared all of the unnecessary people out of the room. The guy was in bed with a girl and he had an erection pushing up the blanket. Nobody said anything, but they tried to film it so it wouldn't show. It was embarrasing for everyone.

Of course it happens and many really get it on secretly but very slowly so they dont get caught.Thats the fun in it.If you watch very closely to the flushed colour in the womans face you can guess whats going on.The trick is trying not to show it.

It'd be more embarassing if two straight actors did a sex scene and one of them got aroused ;)
I imagine it does happen, but it'd be way worse for men.

well you said actor refering to a male and actress refering to a female. What if the actor is gay? then I do not think he would get aroused. If he is not gay then they will try to carrie on but if it is awkward and noticable then the film crew will usually tie his "man" to his leg!

Most definetly! You would be very surprised how easily some men can get an erection, especially if the man is young! (not saying that an older man can't or wouldn't, just that a younger man would get one easier).

I would think so. Lots of romances start on-set. I think I remember reading an interview with Jason Isaacs, who admitted such.
