Yes, it is. Alot of the healthy foods we eat are also great for turtle food. I found a list online for you from a reccomended site. These are foods thats are safe for your happy turtle:

Vegetables

• Spinach - not to be used as a regular green leafy vegetable
• Mustard leaves
• Leaves of Radish - Spring Onion, Turnip
• Lettuce
• Cabbage
• Tomatoes
• Carrot
• Beetroot
• Turnip
• Sweet Potato [cooked - boiled/ steamed/baked]
• Beans
• Peas
• Pumpkin
• Tinda
• Squashes

FRUITS

• Papaya
• Mango
• Water Melon
• Cantaloupe/Common Melon
• Grapes
• Apple
• Banana
• Pear
• Strawberry
• Figs

If your tutrtle wants to eat it it will be OK. But if it eats vegatables it is probably a tortoise not a turtle.
You don't say what kind, box turtle? Ca. Desert tortoise?
Land "tutrtles" are primarily vegatarians ( some are known to eat carrion at times ) Beets are a good feed, lots of sugar for them to build fat reserves, minerals and vitamin A. Here in Oklahoma box turtles like to eat tomatoes and really seem to like melons and cucumbers. Never heard of them digging up beets!
