Wow, you're only just learning this now? He has switched back a forth from his Symbol to his name and back since 1993! To refer to him as the symbol, I have only ever heard people call him "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince". Or, for the sake of your sanity, just call him Prince!

What is this, 1995? He reverted back to "Prince" many, many years ago. So, no trouble in conversation. Even when he WAS a symbol, he was referred to in polite convo as "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince".

he used to go by a symbol (the shape of his guitar) and u referred to him as The artist formerly known as Prince. But he changed nack to Prince in 2006.

Well Prince has now went back the be calling Prince just recently, I guess just symbols didn't work very well for him.

Dude where have you been? He went back to his name Prince like 7 years ago?! That was all due to some argument he was having with his recording studio and they wouldn't let him take his name if he left, or something like that. History!

this was something he did several years ago I believe and no one refers to him as just the symbol I think it was one of his stupidest ideas he ever had because people still refer to him as prince
