The meaning of life is to multiply and contribute to the gene pool and ultimately to die and make way for those to follow us.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

even i was wondering what the meaning of life is?.....is it about just being alive in this world or is it sumthing beyond that?.....in a split second i got the answer too...it's not sumthing which can be properly defined in words or understood in a glance......it's about making use of each and every moment....it's about thanking the almighty for everything he has given you....n most of all it's about doing sumthing which can make a person be happy...

I feel that the meaning of life is to live happily and be contented with what we have. There is no point for us to pursue something that we can't reach in this world.

We were ordered to be to follow God's word. We are God's slaves and must follow his every word.
If it wasn't for Adam and Eve, we would be living in heaven, but now we are doomed to live life on Earth.
the reason for life is to obey God (ALLAH)
Now just because I am Muslim, it doesnt mean you shouldnt listen to me. Us Muslims have the right belief, and if you give us the chance we can prove it you. But, unfortunately, no one ever listens to us.
We live to serve Allah.
By the way, "Allah" means "God".

I believe we live life just for the hell of it. What other reason is there? We do it to learn, and for fun. Learning is fun. To learn about the world that has been created for us, and to watch yourself progress is the most amazing experience. We live life for God (Him & Her), to learn and experience for them. To experience Their knowledge. That is my philosophy.
What other reason is there to exist that to do it for the experience? That's why people get depressed when they don't do anything. They aren't living!
