Amateur Radio is a terrific hobby that equips you to do missions work as well as many other activities that will benefit not only yourself but others around you.
http://www.arrl.org is a good place to get information on it.
The hobby is less expensive than most activities for men, it is educational, you can build things, learn how things work, talk to people all around the world, become entrenched in the fraternal friendship shared among Ham radio operators world wide, and serve your community and the world with emergency and disaster relief commnuications.
If your going to do something, why not do something that is as good for the world as it is for you?
I love the Amateur Radio Service hobby...it's about the only hobby that is not a complete waste of time...you do stuff that is exciting, fun and it matters!

Being with my children, collecting teddy bears, Cinderella dolls, reading, walking, dancing, country music, cooking and shopping (even window shopping).

-riding a really long and huge roller coaster.

-go on off world exploration with SG-1.
-cave diving
-hanging out with Dr.Rodney McKay when he's cranky
-hone my martial arts skills
-skydiving
-work out
-going on-line
-cooking(yes...i know.is out my character but hey I'm only a human)
-target practice(no live target dummys were harm during my shooting practice)
-being a smarty pants...(i know and let's not go there..getting some help as we speak)
-answer the yahoo!answer thingy (yes, I know..i need help..i should be in the YAA-yahoo Answer Addiction meetings right now...baby steps dude,baby steps...)
-eating(ok b4 u ask,hey if i luv cooking then someone gotta eat it right??)
-playing golf (ok not so much of playing the game but i do enjoy hitting a golf ball as far as i can...and b4 u report me to the human rights group, no golf balls were seriously injure)
yup that's bout 1/10th of it...=)
