Bush intended to invade Iraq from the very first day he was in office, and for three really 'lame' reasons:
1) The Bush family had a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein ever since Desert Storm when George H.W. Bush was ridiculed, criticized, and humiliated for 'not finishing the job' and ousting Hussein at that time;
2) Dick Cheney and his Exxon-Mobil buddies wanted all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so they could get richer and richer and richer feeding America's terrible addiction to cheap, easily-accessible foreign OIL;
3) Ever since World War II, the giant U.S. military-industrial complex (which Eisenhower warned us about) realized how profitable 'war' could be. So it bought up all the rotten politicians, hired pricey lobbyists and formed special interest groups to encourage and promote more 'war'. Thus, the U.S. got embroiled in the Korean Conflict; the Cuban Missile Crisis; the Cold War; Vietnam and Desert Storm, all so that companies like McDonnell-Douglass and Lockheed Martin could boost their sagging profits. A 'new war' was necessary so those corporations could put a few more billion in their pockets at American taxpayers' expense - and to allow two 'newcomer' government contractors to share in the feast: the Carlyle Group and Halliburton both have direct ties to the Bush/Cheney White House.
We will NOT 'step down' and leave Iraq until we have sucked every drop of OIL from its sands. That's why the U.S. is building the largest embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the 'new' puppet Iraqi government installed by the Bush administration.
George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and all 535 members of the most arrogant, contemptible, greedy, incompetent, cowardly, corrupt Republican-led Congress in U.S. history [who turned its back and allowed Bush to run ripshod over our Constitution] deserve to be tried in an international tribunal for high crimes against humanity, and - if convicted - should be hanged just as they arranged for Hussein to hang.
Surely Satan has a special oil-soaked, blood-stained corner of Hell reserved for all members of the Bush administration who support this unconstitutional, illegal, unjustifiable act of pure mass murder they call a 'war'.

Joseph Stalin massacred 10 million of his countrymen and died peacefully in his sleep;
Adolph Hitler gassed 6 million Jews and took the coward's way out by committing suicide before he could face an international court of justice;
Idi Amin killed 2 million people in Uganda and retired in luxurious 'exile';
Saddam Hussein slaughtered more than a million Iraqis and was hanged for his crimes by a puppet government of the Bush administration;
George W. Bush has yet to accept responsibility for the deaths of 675,000 Iraqis and 3,500 U.S. soldiers. -RKO- 06/02/07

I am all for your ideas and thoughts. I am TOTALLY against this war in Iraq but possibly for different reasons than you. I do not want not even one more soldier to die at the hands of terrorists, militants or insurgents. It is never a good idea to begin a battle WITHOUT a plan as to how victory will be achieved. Hell, there isn't even a PLAN B as a contingency plan!
I don't know how to start criminal prosecutions of the chimp and his cohorts - I am not a lawyer - and besides, I want to live to draw social security at age 62! The chimp has killed or allowed more people to die while he was Governor of TX. He watched as 157 men and women died by lethal injection - some were proven innocent after the fact, and others never had DNA testing to make sure they were in fact the guilty ones in a murder case! All that was ever said was that those prisoners were tried and convicted by a "jury of their peers". Give me a break! What jury is actually a "jury of the peers" of those on trial? If you have a black man/woman on trial, their jury SHOULD be black members of their community. Same for a white or Hispanic. In fact, to get a jury of peers of the offender, one should get the same kinds of folks that the offender lives with and near his/her home! One could go on and on about the chimp - but one thing for sure, if America wants to take their country back, they HAVE to vote with true research into the candidates and smarts upstairs! Can't do it without education! We live in America - we don not have to remain stupid!

I suspect that the reason we'll be there for years to come is that the military and police we are training and arming to fight the insurgents, terrorists, and militias are made up mostly of militiamen seeking training and arms to fight the Americans (and each other) when they think the time is right.

Every article I've read in the last month states matter-of-factly how thoroughly infiltrated the Iraqi police and army are. They're learning our tactics and techniques, and the jihad is spreading throughout the region.

How about stepping up an enlisting to help speed up the process.

I think it was a Bushism. He meant As the Iraqi army steps down, we will step up. You hafta read between the lines on anything he says, and reverse engineer it.
