You can drive your parents insane. But kids usually don't wait until they are 16 to begin.

Depends. If you have been brought up on a farm. Than driving a tractor and other lawn or farming equipment is a good way to learn some of the basically skills needed to become a good or at least get started driver.

As a rule for my first car, I started learning with an automatic. This way I didn't have to deal with extra peddles and shifting into gears. You need something small so that you able to judge distance and the "inviable zone or barrier" thats around the car. Most never learn these zones so that they are unaware of how close they can get to other objects.

Later when you feel your ready, an older VW bug would be a perfect started car. Remember start small and work your way up.

Any car, that is after you learn to drive 1st though. Also, since youre 16 you dont have much experience yet, so I suggest you to start with a small sedan, like honda civic.
Most people will advice you to start w/ automatic, but if you want real skills and experience I suggest learning manual 1st, autos are easy once you master the manual trans.
