I know that they rarely sting, buy my concern is more for my new deck frame and garage that they are boring holes into. How can I get to the nest if they bore into the wood then do a 90 degree turn and tunnel 4 ft. into the wood. How will this affect the strength of the wood and would it have to be replaced.

Liquid sprays don't work very good because it soaks into the wood. If you have some Sevin dust you can put a little in an old catsup bottle and "poof" a little dust in each hole. In 24 hrs they will all be dead. They you can caulk or putty the holes and repaint. If you just fill the hole without killing them they sometimes just start a new hole.

It's time to repaint or add some kind of preservative to your wood, "Carpenter Bees" don't like freshly painted or preserved wood, your wood has dried out, it's what they love to munch on DRY WOOD, so do yourself a favor and put something back into the wood as far as the bore holes , do a couple applications of a good siloconized latex caulk and smooth out with a putty knife, Good luck Les the painter

I have this problem with our picnic table. Apparently, they are less likely to bore into a painted surface. I wonder what they would do if you caulked or used wood filler in their holes? I/m not sure how far they will bore into the wood.

there are these really cool bee catching things, they are yellow and they are a cylinder with a pyramid shaped thing inside of it, there is bait in it. I took the bait that started in it and put in some steak instead and i put it on they other side of my yard from the patio, when i emptied it there were close to 100 dead bees in it and it only took about 2 weeks so it worked for me, sorry if how i explained it made no sense...

I had carpenter bees boring into the railing of my deck and I sprayed bug spray into the holes and on a cotton ball which I stuffed into the holes. No more carpenter bees!

I sprayed them periodically for two years and it didn't bother them for more than a day. They kept coming back. My boss told me to plug the holes and i did that last year and it seems to have worked
