The Jury is still out. He cannot be blamed for decisions that Carl and the front office made. I don't like the draft, but Brian Waters said in the Star yesterday that the O-line is good to go.
We won't have to wait 3 or 4 years, this will be the season of enlightenment on Coach Edwards. We will find out how he manages the gameplan, which, in the end, is the true measure of a good football tactician. We'll know because we're experts. Matryball showed us the unsuccessful formula for a decade.

Asking Herm Edwards to take Kansas City or even the New York Jets to the Super Bowl was something that the owners haven't expected out of him. He has the right system, but the General Managers on both teams were tight wads, and poor decision makers. With the isolated splurge that K.C. delved into by drafting Larry Johnson (one who they thought they shouldn't have) they have never made any splashes, in the draft or free agency. Laverneus Coles? That's about the best the Jet's did, and K.C.? If Herm Edwards had a good G.M. i think he could get the team somewhere. He is respected, and he got both of those sorry a.ss teams to the playoffs. A feat that should have been rewarded.

Herm Edwards was an excellent coordinator, however he has yet to prove himself as a good head coach. His handling of the N.Y. Jets was mediocre and it was a bit of a reach for K.C. to select him to coach the Chiefs. There are much more proven coaches out there that probably would do a better job but he is known throughout the NFL as a "good guy" so the Chiefs took a chance on him. Of course, with the right balance of talent, even a mediocre coach can take a team to the playoffs and Super Bowl.

Herm Edwards is a below average coach (4 out of 10)!
He was a pretty good coordinator but he lacks the guts to be a head coach.
Never has one coach played SO many games "trying not to lose"!
His offense is boring, unimaginative and predictable.
Run, Run, Pass, Punt
Run, Run, Run, Punt
Pass, Run, Run, Punt
KC used to have a great offense, look at it now!
They won't win anything with him as HC

Herm is a good coach that can take a team to the Super Bowl if he has the right team. He took 3 very mediocre Jets' teams to the playoffs (missing the seasons in which his starting QB was injured) and Kansas City last season. He is a lot like Dungy early in his career (which was distinguished by making the playoffs often but never moving on) and now "big surprise" Dungy won a SB last season. You can be a "good guy" and win a SB and Herm can (and might) someday show that like his mentor did last season.

Herm Edwards is a good leader, not necessarily a good head coach. He will not, however, get that team to a Super Bowl so long as "King Carl" is running things.

Herm Edwards sucks. If you are a Chiefs fan be prepared for a lot of depressing seasons. Look how the Jets stepped up when he left.

As a Patriot fan, I was disappointed when the Jets got rid of him.
Last year was the high water mark for KC. Seriously. The guy's clock management is so ridiculously bad he hired a clock management coach - then still screwed up. KC hiring of Herm Edwards was a red letter day in Denver.:)

Not a very good coach. He's the football version of Doc Rivers (Boston Celtics head coach). Great guy with good intentions, but just not a good coach. Herm can get his guys fired up and listen to him for a while, but they're only going to listen if you prove you can take them the distance. His clock management and play-calling are very questionable, and that's what gets him in trouble in a lot of games. He will use Larry Johnson till his legs fall off, but I don't see him doing much with the Chiefs defense. Good luck with him - he's no worse than Vermeil.

H.E. is a tremendous person, a good tactition, and respectable guy. As a head coach he is mediocre on his best day! Look at what Mangini did with the NYJ in one year! More exciting to watch and the team had a desire to win! That is a key ingredient that is lacking in Edwards team. Desire. H.E. cannot inspire a team. I loved him as a DB and coordinator but as a HC he does not have the right tools. KC should have looked in a different direction for a HC.
