Both have Windows XP Home I got #1 on the internet but not #2. I am using a Linksys 5 port Comcast Hub with DSL Modem. i want to share internet files and printer, Do i need seperate monitors ,keyboards and mice.

I would suggest replacing the hub with a router to avoid some networking issues. Then just connect the machines, set the workgroup, share the files and printer.

You can get a KVM switch which will allow two machines to share a keyboard and video and mouse so you only need one set. I have four machines setup that way only one monitor one keyboard one mouse all four are usually on You just select the one you want to view with a push button or using control keys on the keyboard.

Each machine needs it's own monitor, keyboard and mouse.
Connect each machiine to the router with a CAT 5 cable then
run the Network Connection wizard on each machine allowing sharing when it asks and set the internet option to use residential gateway.
Job done

u need to replace the hub with a router
set the router's default-gateway to the ip that ur computer with Internet is set to
set new network for the computers and printers with different ip set
and there u go

You can use a crossover cable to connect network cards of both computers to create a network between them
