snashraf- I said killed in America. If you don't think America is in a war with crime and drugs you aren't paying attention.
The reason I didn't put the exact number killed in Iraq if because it changes daily.

Lynn- you don't seem to get it. If we can't protect our own country we shouldn't be giving orders to other countries. I have had someone in the armed forces most of my life. As we defend other countries our country is being given away.

I believe about 15,000. It has declined from a peak of around 20,000 in the 80's. Most occur in large cities (DC, LA, Etc.)

You can't compare the two. The "war" on drugs or the "war" on crime are terms used by politicians who want to get a sound bite in the evening news. You mention over 3400 troops killed in Iraq since the war started five years ago. Considering that over 54,000 American were killed in the three years of the Korean War and over 90,000 American troops were killed during the 11 years of the Vietnam War, I'd say our troops were doing very well considering all the limits that our congress is placing on them.

If we thought about firemen and police officers in the same way as some think about soldiers, we would have no protection. Those that wear a uniform have a job. Support THEM!
