First you will need some moisturizer that is compatible with your skin type: dry, oily, combination, etc.
The Foundation you use should match your skin color. This can be tricky so use the Professionals at the Make-up counters to suggest colors. Try Mac, Clinique, Benefit. SPF is good if you are outdoors a lot. Dont use too heavy a foundation, - it can be fake and old looking. Dont apply foundation to your eye lids. Use a concealer that is a little lighter than your skin tone--above & under the eye. If your skin is blotchy you may need a pink or yellow concealer/base to even it out. Eye shadow is personal. If you want a 'natural' look, use neutral, matte shades. For more attraction use color. Match your eyes, match your outfit, have fun. Lighter color on the lid; darker on the crease. Pencil or shadow along the lower lashes before mascara, or naked lower lashes.
Practice makes perfect. If you dont have the technique yet, dont give up. With make-up, a little goes a long way.
One more thing... the best time to hit the Department store beauty counters is when they offer a gift with purchase. At other times I always ask if they have any samples and quite often they do!

well to start with you need a simple skin regimine.Clinique has a really great line, with different types for different skin types.Their line consists of a mild but good facial soap, a gentle astrigent, and a absolutely lovely mosturizing gel.A bit on the pricey side, but come in rather large quanities, I dont have to but but every 6 months.their website seems to be down right now though.
Also, everyone needs moisture for their face, so cleansing it without mosturizing it will be pointless. And gels are always better than lotions as they dont block pores.

Some make-ups can makes you break-out. Land of Olay soap other their other products are wonderful for your skin.
I've been using them for years and I look much younger than I really am.

try different moisturizers every two weeks and see if you can tell which one doesn't make you brake out.
